Application Guidelines Exclusions Grants Awarded Annual Report & Accounts Privacy Notice

The Mrs Maud Van Norden Charitable Foundation was founded on 11 April 1960 by the late Mrs Maud Van Norden.

Grant Policy Guidelines:-

The Trustees' current donation target is to distribute £45,000 annually to a wide range of mainly English registered charities.  This target is reviewed annually at the Trustees' main meeting which usually takes place in May.

The Trustees make grants twice a year, usually in May and December.  Details of the Trustees can be found in the annual Report and Accounts.

The Trustees aim to support a number of areas of charitable work as summarised below.  There is no policy of making regular donations to the same charities, but the Trustees consider setting aside a proportion of their available donation target to fund small bursaries and commitments for no longer than 3 years.

The Trustees are particularly interested in the following areas of charitable work:-

•    Armed services and ex-services, particularly the wounded and suffering
•    Care and homeless in the community
•    Medical research
•    The disabled
•    Youth welfare and education

If you are a charity working in any of these fields and you would like to request financial assistance, please read our application guidelines.  Certain areas of charitable work are not supported by the Trustees and please see our exclusions.

It is usual for the Trustees to repeat a donation for (up to) three years and then it is unlikely that the Trustees will repeat a donation for core funding within three years unless it is for a specific project.

Grants vary but the normal unit of donations is £2,000.  In view of the relatively modest level of the grants the Trustees generally aim to support charities with an income under £10m, where the level of grants made are likely to have a more meaningful effect. Larger national charities are supported in specific circumstances, particularly in relation to projects including medical research.

The Trustees do not support exclusively local charities outside the London area. International and national disaster appeals are supported through donations to charities registered in England and Wales.
